St. Rose HSA Chicken/Sausage/Okra Gumbo Dinner The St. Rose Home & School Association will serve plates with chicken/ sausage/okra gumbo over rice, corn-on-the-cob, garlic bread and cookie on Friday, Oct. 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Schulenburg Hall. The plates-to-go will be $12 each.

Jeschke to give program at Quilt Guild Oct. meeting

Everyone is invited to the next Colorado Valley Quilt Guild meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. as Brenda Jeschke will discuss what a judge is looking for at the quilt show. Jeschke is an award-winning quilter, quilt teacher and quilt show judge.

Abendroth, Florus to wed

Allison Anne Abendroth and Mason Benjamin Florus will be united in holy matrimony on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill. Allison, a Leander native, is the daughter of Mark and Vivian Abendroth of Leander and the granddaughter of the late Bert R.

Dittmars’ flag display recognized

The John Everett Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, recognizes the American flag display of Leon and Verna Nell Dittmar, located 102 River Bend Drive in Columbus. She stated how they have proudly displayed and cherished their American flag for 25 years.

Fishing trip for paralyzed veterans hosted

Members of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, San Antonio Chapter, along with family and friends, came “catchin’” to Bob’s magic pond in Moravia on Saturday, Oct. 14. They fished until their coolers were full of fightin’ Humpback Blues. They are already planning the spring trip.
