Holiday Hold’em wellness program to start Nov. 23

“Would you like to maintain or even lose weight this holiday season?” asks Sally Garrett, Fayette County Extension agent-family and community health.“A multi-county wellness program, Holiday Hold’em, will begin soon,” she continued.

American Legion McBride Post 143 and Auxiliary Unit will hold their annual Christmas party on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the American Legion Home in Wolters Park. A social will start at 6 p.m. followed by the meal and awards presentation at 7 p.m.Dress is casual with Legionnaire cap.

Literary Club has program on Texas Quilt Museum

The Schulenburg Literary Club met on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the Schulenburg Public Library.Hostesses Ginni Berwick, Betty Herzik, Kathy Koch and Gerri Morgan decorated the meeting room with Thanksgiving elements.

Thirty-eight attend Hermann Sons Life meeting

Thirty-eight members and guests were in attendance at the Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12.For “Make a Difference Day,” a donation was made to Deputy Santa. Election of officers for 2026 was voted on and motion passed. A scholarship was awarded to Brycen Schramek.

Wick to release novel set in Texas state park

Readers of fiction can enjoy local author Audrey Wick’s latest novel, releasing Tuesday, Nov. 25. Wick is a Fayette County native and serves as full-time professor of English at Blinn College-Schulenburg campus.

Stanzel Museum to host Drone Racing Day Nov. 22

Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum will host Drone Racing & Education Day on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 311 Baumgarten St., Schulenburg.Those attending can watch the pros in action with thrilling demonstrations from MultiGP Drone Racing, Tempest Droneworx and FSC Inc.
