Program on sharpening garden tools set Oct. 14

The topic for this month's Bluebonnet Master Gardener lunch-and-learn educational program is “Sharpening Your Tools,” scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 14 at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange.Dull tools can make gardening chores harder.

Fayette County Czech Heritage Society has program on TCHCC at meeting

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society held its annual speaker meeting on Sept. 21 at the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center (TCHCC) in La Grange.The business agenda included signatures from the treasurer, a discussion of increasing state CHS dues for 2026, and fundraising suggestions.

American Legion McBride Post 143 and Auxiliary held their monthly meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 2.Commander Bob Heinrich called the meeting to order with 38 Legion and 10 Auxiliary members in attendance. Auxiliary president Patricia Hranicky, read the prayer.

Fayette Co. Retired Teachers have ice cream social at meeting

The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association met Monday, Sept. 8 at the New Life Methodist Church in La Grange, with 22 members in attendance.Members enjoyed an ice cream social with many toppings and sweet treats.

‘Diabetes Friendly Cooking’ series slated in La Grange

A healthy home cooking series, “Pan to Plate – Diabetes Friendly Cooking” is being offered through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County.The workshops will be held on three Thursdays, Oct. 2, Oct. 9 and Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The Schulenburg High School class of 1965 held its 60-year class reunion on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Oakridge Restaurant in Schulenburg. The total class numbered 46, and 17 classmates attended along with spouses, family and friends.
