QUILT GUILDColorado Valley Quilt Guild will host author Janet Shawgo of Gal veston at its meeting on Tuesday, June 23 at 6 p.m. Shawgo has been writing since 2009, with 11 published novels. Her most recent book, My Sister’s Quilt, tells the story of family through quilts.

KRISCHKEThe 48th Krischke family reunion will be held on Sunday, July 19 at St. Mary’s Hall in High Hill. The hall will open at 9 a.m. for set-up, and registration will begin at 10 a.m. A catered lunch of brisket, sau sage and all the trimmings will be served.

The “Walk Across Texas” program hosted by the Friends of the Weimar Public Library and Colorado County AgriLife Extension Office concluded recently with six teams competing.Total miles walked amounted to 10,132.63. Top teams were:•First place – Miller Creek Milers, 2,869.

The Fayette County “Walk Across Texas” program ended recently with 10 teams competing in the eight-week series.The 2026 theme was “Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday Through Walk Across Texas” with historic sites and parks highlighted in the weekly newsletters.
Paul Williams just had to ride the mechanical horse in front of the Lyric ice cream parlor in Flatonia. The June adventure began with lunch at Darlin’s Diner, then a movie at Lyric Theater and the day concluded with ice cream. A total of 27 members enjoyed this fun outing!

Sr. Connections: gathering place for active seniors

The Senior Connections activity center, based in Schulenburg with satellites in Weimar and Flatonia, welcomes anyone 55 and up. With free membership, fantastic friends and fabulous food, there is no reason members shouldn’t have a whole lot of fun!
