Schulenburg Sausagefest The ninth annual Schulenburg Sausagefest will be held on Saturday, April 6 in downtown Schulenburg from 11:15 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society held a special meeting in Hanslik Hall at the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center in La Grange on March 24. The current reigning 2023-24 CHS Miss Texas Czech-Slovak Queen, Katie Kostelnik, honored the society with her presence.

The West Navidad Wildlife Management Association will hold its spring meeting on Saturday, April 13 at the Rockin W sale barn on Highway 77 north of Schulenburg. A social will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a meal of beef tips, mashed potatoes and gravy from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Twenty-two members of the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild had a wonderful time trying something new on March 27 by participating in the Guild’s “Quilt of Valor” project. Scraps of patriotic material were cut into various lengths and widths and each member was asked to make 8½-inch or 9½inch blocks using a Log Cabin design.

John Wick Family The 27th John Wick family reunion will be held at the St. Mary Parish Hall in High Hill on Sunday, April 7, with registration starting at 10 a.m.

All railfans, train enthusiasts and “foamers” are invited to visit the Tommy Shults Photo Pavilion at 422 West North Main St. in Flatonia this Saturday, April 6 for the Flatonia Rail Museum’s biannual Railfan Party.

Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) is excited to present Song Swap Sundays in Fayetteville, a musical gathering hosted by Mike Stroup. Musicians will take turns playing songs, answering questions and sharing the stories behind the melodies.

Historical fiction writer Barbara Ortwein from Germany will speak at the Weimar Public Library on Friday, April 5 at 11 a.m. Ortwein will present her Texas saga trilogy on German immigration to Texas by highlighting places and families that many people will recognize.

In celebration of National Poetry Night, the Friends of the Weimar Public Library will present its third annual Open Mic Poetry Night at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at the Weimar City Gazebo, and everyone is invited.
