Circa 1895 photograph of the M.K.T. rail yard on the eastern end of La Grange (vicinity of 600th block East La Fayette Street) looking south with the bluff in the distance. Louis Melcher captured this view from the roof of the M.K.T. freight depot. Train cars, warehouses, elevated tanks and open sheds like those used by lumberyards are visible (present day Farmer’s Lumber Co.).
