Chess, Hapkido classes slated at Weimar library

The Weimar Public Library will host a chess class for all ages – young and old – beginning Tuesday, May 28. The chess class will meet every Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.Afterward, a Hapkido class will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Benefit for Jimmy and Cindy Carter set May 17

A drive-through-only benefit barbecue pork steak dinner for Jimmy and Cindy Carter will be held on Friday, May 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St.Tickets for the meal were sold through May 13.A drawing will also be held on that date after the pork steak dinner.

Reunions

SchoenerThe Schoener reunion is returning on Sunday, June 2 at the KC Hall in Schulenburg. Gathering will start at 11 a.m. and a meal will be served at noon. Families should bring enough food for themselves. Tea, coffee, plates, napkins, cups and plastic-ware will be provided.

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

As of May 4, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 590 for the year – 274 dogs and 316 cats in need.As of May 4, the shelter had 90 animals in its care – 55 dogs and 35 cats.
