Master Gardener program to address chemicals

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener lunch-and-learn educational program will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange. The topic this month will be “Chemicals in the Garden.” Guest speaker will be Donnie Dippel of CHB Land Management.

CVQG ‘Best Little Quilt Show in Texas’ winners

The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild’s 26th annual “Best Little Quilt Show”in Texas” was held on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24 at the KC Community Center in La Grange. Over 600 people came to enjoy the beautiful quilts.

ARTS hosts music series in Fayetteville during March

Music has played an important role in the history and personality of Fayetteville, and the historic courthouse and town square have played supporting roles in providing a family-friendly venue for many community and music events over the years.

Area resident Mike Vance will be selling and signing copies of his new novel, Wingo: The Remarkable Life of an Unremarkable Man, on Sunday afternoon, March 10 at Round Top Brewing & Kitchen. The event will start at 4 p.m. and will continue until 6 p.m.

Garden Club has program propagation at meeting

The Schulenburg Garden Club gathering on Feb. 6 was opened by president Bonnie Baker, who welcomed 23 members and three guests, one being the speaker, Randy Albers. The group recited the Garden Club Prayer and was invited to enjoy a Valentine-themed luncheon.

Prepaid college tuition program signup ends Feb. 29

Texas families can lock in today’s cost of undergraduate resident tuition and schoolwide, required fees at Texas public colleges and universities by enrolling their children in the tax-advantaged Texas Tuition Promise Fund before the close of the current general enrollment period on Feb. 29.
