‘Walk Across Texas’ starts March 10

Fayette County’s eight-week “Walk Across Texas!” program will start on Sunday, March 10, and is designed to help participants create healthy habits, lower the risk of disease, meet new friends and achieve 2024 health goals.

Hermann Sons Life installs officers

Hermann Sons Life, Schulenburg Lodge 14, met on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Twenty-six members and guests were present. Agent Kyle Hartmann from Rutersville was the guest speaker. Minutes were read and the finance report given.

Fayette SWCD holds Conservation Awards Banquet

Fayette County Soil & Water Conservation District No. 341 held its annual Conservation Awards Banquet on Friday, Feb. 2. A highlight was the announcement of Dr. Thomas and Donna Mueller as winners of the Conservation Rancher Award.

Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) proudly presents “A Riot of Color: Embracing Expressive Chaos” featuring the bold and brilliantly charged works of Jeremy Serna.

Museum board informed of giveaway for visitors

Schulenburg Historical Museum held the monthly board meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. New members welcomed were Troy Chafin and Dennis Lebeda. Historian Mason Florus is working on the history of Schulenburg’s police and fire departments.

Catholic Daughters Fried Chicken & Sausage Dinner Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose 1597, will hold its 31st annual fried chicken and sausage dinner on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. until sold out at the Schulenburg Hall.

Meetings

VVA Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 870, will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. the Ammannsville KJT Hall. Food and refreshments will be provided at the meeting. VVA, AVVA and prospective members are invited to attend.

Fayette Czech Heritage Society enjoys soup social

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society met on Sunday, Feb. 4 in the Hanslik Hall of the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center in La Grange to celebrate its annual soup (polévka) social.

Winedale to host monthly online talk, quilt exhibit

Winedale Historic Site announces two upcoming events – the monthly online talk and a quilt exhibit. The topic for the online talk, which will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at noon, will be “Juneteenth – A Celebration of Emancipation.
