GJAS recognizes outgoing board president

Dr. Rylee Hatfield, DVM, who has served as president of the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS) board of directors since 2019, will be stepping down from that role, and the new board president will be Frank Reichert. Dr.

Alley Cemetery receives Official Texas Historical Marker

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) has recognized Alley Cemetery in Colorado County as a significant part of Texas history by awarding it an Official Texas Historical Marker. The designation honors Alley Cemetery as an important and educational part of the area’s history.

Animal Footprints in Fayette This week’s Footprints story will be a continuation of the stories about the “footprints” left by our animal friends, be they domestic or wild, in Fayette County history.

Alzheimer’s Assn. encourages ‘brain health’

The Alzheimer’s Association Capital of Texas Chapter urges everyone to make brain health a priority in 2024. In addition, the Texas Chapter has set a virtual lunch-and-learn, “Healthy Living for Your Brain & Body,” for Wednesday, Feb. 7 from noon to 1 p.m.

Republican Women to host candidates at meeting

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20 inclusive, payable by cash or check.
