State Parks centennial photo contest winner named

A photo capturing a family jumping for joy bounded over 17 other finalists to win the Texas State Parks photo contest grand prize. The year-long contest, part of Texas Parks & Wildlife’s (TPWD) festivities celebrating 100 years of Texas State Parks, elicited more than 6,000 entries.

Faison House to host Shelby for MLK Day event

The Faison House in La Grange is proud to feature world-renowned primitive folk artist Dorothy Shelby in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. She will be at the house from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 to display and sell her art.

Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will meet on Monday, Jan. 8 at the Fellowship Hall of New Life Methodist Church, 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. Social time will be at 1:30 p.m. and the business meeting will start at 2 p..m.

Senior Connections has been having some wonderful days this grand month of December. Last week started off with the music of Dave Hollas. He goes by the nickname “Super Dave” that was given to him while he was in college. Hollas was “super” to Senior Connections as well.
