State Parks centennial photo contest winner named

A photo capturing a family jumping for joy bounded over 17 other finalists to win the Texas State Parks photo contest grand prize.
The year-long contest, part of Texas Parks & Wildlife’s (TPWD) festivities celebrating 100 years of Texas State Parks, elicited more than 6,000 entries.

The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department’s OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD for 2023 went to Dylan Schilhab (center). He made the highest percentage of calls, meetings, and drills at 87 percent. The award is sponsored annually by the family of the late Chief Roland Proske. Last week started off with the music of Dave Hollas. He goes by the nickname “Super Dave” that was given to him while he was in college. Hollas was “super” to Senior Connections as well.
