The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society hosted its annual Christmas party at Hanslik Hall in the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center in La Grange on Dec. 5. It was a festive event as members and guests caroled Czech Christmas songs with Jimmy Fucik accompanying them on the accordion.

Holiday shopping and giftgiving can often be challenging, but even more so when shopping for a person living with dementia. There are more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, and 11 million family members and friends serving as unpaid caregivers for these individuals.

Medical records access info given for St. Mark’s

New information regarding medical records access is now available as a follow-up to the closure of St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange on Oct. 12, 2023. Patient medical records have been safely transferred to a new custodian, American Medical Solutions Inc.

Christmas Parties

HERMANN SONS LIFE The Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 Christmas party will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Oakridge Restaurant, with social hour at 5 p.m. and a meal at 6 p.m. Members are asked to bring a $15 gift for the raffle which supports the scholarship fund.
The first-ever City of Schulenburg retirees party was held on Thursday, Dec. 7 at Sengelmann Hall. It represented an accumulation of 371 years of service. A few retirees were missing but hopefully everyone will get to attend next year. Stanzel Family Foundation awards two grants

The Stanzel Family Foundation has awarded grants to two local nonprofits, Senior Connections and Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley. These funds aim to fortify the operations of both organizations as they address critical needs within the community.

Christmas Decorating Contest The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries in its residential and commercial Christmas decorating contest. All entries must be received at the Chamber office by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Judging will be Friday, Dec. 15 between 6 and 9 p.m.

Senior Connections had a full week of activities last week, meeting with people and being mission-oriented. Members learned a lot, shared a lot, and celebrated a season of thankfulness together, too.
