Quilt Guild makes quilts for area nursing facilities

The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild had a productive day at its charity quilt workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange, with 22 members in attendance. The workshop was held after the regular CVQG meeting.

Alzheimer’s, hospice support groups meet monthly

In La Grange at the Hospice Brazos Valley, caregivers and loved ones have been meeting for 15 years to support each other as their loved ones face dementia and other conditions. On the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m.

CCA Meals

CCA’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Stanzel museum offers incentives to visit

The Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum is offering special incentives to those who visit the museum in December. Staff members often hear: “You know, I live around here and I have never been to the museum.

Christmas Parties

The Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 The Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 Christmas party will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Oakridge Restaurant, with social hour at 5 p.m. and a meal at 6 p.m. Members are asked to bring a $15 gift for the raffle which supports the scholarship fund.

Polka Lovers Club museum sets Christmas open house

The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) in La Grange is hosting two Christmas open houses, in conjunction with the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center, on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Fayette County Retired Teachers Assn. has meeting

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association met on Monday, Nov. 13 at the Fellowship Hall of the New Life Methodist Church (formerly First United Methodist Church) in La Grange, with 19 in attendance. Refreshments were provided by Lisa Slinkard and the executive officers.

Legion and Auxiliary had monthly meetings on Nov. 7

American Legion McBride Post 143 and Auxiliary held their monthly meetings on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Commander Bob Heinrich called the meeting to order with 37 Legion and 10 Auxiliary members in attendance. Auxiliary chaplain Linda Dieringer read the opening prayer.
