Lady Horns start district play with pair of sweeps

The defending district champions started 27-2A play with 3-0 sweeps of Ganado and Flatonia last week. After those wins, the Lady Horns improved to 22-12 on the season. Three Schulenburg players totaled over 20 kills in the two matches.

Horns host 1-3 Hearne for Homecoming this Friday

While the Shorthorns started district play with an overtime win in Thorndale last Friday, Hearne had an open date in its schedule. The 1-3 Eagles will visit David Husmann Memorial Stadium this Friday, Sept. 29 for Schulenburg High School’s Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

SHORTHORN SUB-VARSITY FOOTBALL

The junior varsity Shorthorns dropped to 2-2 on the season after a 14-6 loss at home against Thorndale on Thursday, Sept. 21. Mason Kunschick scored the Horns’ only touchdown, on a 26-yard run. He, along with Ian Reeves, Jayden Olmos, and Cody Hall, turned in the top offensive performances.
