Local K. of C. free throw contest slated for Jan. 29

Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902 will host the local level of the K. of C. Free Throw Championship on Thursday, Jan. 29.It will be held at Schulenburg ISD’s new gym at 6 p.m. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the gym. There is no cost to enter.

Venghaus cards ace at Weimar GC

Dennis Venghaus of Schulenburg recorded his third lifetime hole-in-one on Friday, Jan. 16 at Weimar Golf Course.Like the previous two, the last one in 1998, the ace came on hole No. 4. Witnesses were Bud Hernandez, Gus Seaholm, and Scott Ford.

Lady Horns rout Maidens by 29 for second district win, suffer 41-point loss Friday at Little River Academy

The Schulenburg High School girls’ basketball team evened its District 28-2A record with a 4819 win over Ganado at home last Tuesday, Jan. 6.The Maidens were held scoreless for 4:42 to start the game but the Lady Horns only managed eight points.

Horns start district with overtime win after 3-1 mark in local tourney

It took a late comeback and clutch free-throw shooting for the Shorthorns to notch a 5956 win in their District 28-2A opener last Friday afternoon in Weimar.Schulenburg (12-8) led by as many as seven points in the second quarter and never trailed until 6:40 left in the game.
