Nine Lady Horns, six Shorthorns advance to area track meet

The District 28-2A Track and Field Meet was held on Wednesday and Saturday, March 26 and 29 in Ganado.Schulenburg High School had a total of 15 individuals place in the top four in 13 events to qualify for the area meet (districts 27 and28), scheduled for Thursday,April10 in Flatonia.

SHS places in 14 events at District 28-2A tennis tournament

The Shorthorn and Lady Horn varsities brought home runner-up team plaques at the District 28-2A tournament, held Monday and Tuesday, March 24-25 in Shiner.Overall, the Schulenburg High School varsity placed in the top three in six events while the junior varsity had eight top-three finishes.

The Shorthorns needed only three innings to score 22 runs in Louise on Tuesday, March 25, improving to 3-3 in District 28-2A.Schulenburg (5-9) totaled 14 hits and drew 12 walks in the shutout. Reid Janda, Cooper Demel, Ian Reeves, and Owen Brenek all drove in three runs apiece.

Shorthorns add another golf tournament title last week

For the second straight week, the Schulenburg High School boys’ golf team earned first-place medals and had the top two individual scores.On Monday, March 24, the Shorthorns posted their best team total of the year with a 331 at the Sacred Heart Tournament, held at Hallettsville Golf Course.

Louise walks its way to wild win over Lady Horns

With only two hits, the Lady Hornets out-scored the Lady Horns 33-32 in Louise on Tuesday, March 25.Schulenburg (2-14-1) trailed 11-1 after one inning but rallied to take a 32-27 lead with a 10-run fifth and seven more in the top of the sixth.

Horns bounce back from one-run loss in Flatonia to run-rule Bobcats

The Shorthorns suffered their fifth one-run loss of the season on the road last Tuesday but improved to 2-3 in District 29-2A with a run-rule win at home on Friday.Schulenburg (4-9) led 4-3 through five innings in Flatonia on March 18 but the Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Shorthorns top El Campo golf tourney

Not only did the Schulenburg High School boys’ golf team post the best score in the El Campo tournament on Monday, March 17, the Shorthorns also claimed the top two individual spots.Team standings were: 1. Lady Horns notch first win in district play

After getting run-ruled in their first four 29-2A games, the Lady Horns returned the favor to its fifth district opponent on Friday, March 21 at the Sports Complex.Schulenburg ( 2- 13- 1) took advantage of 11 Bloomington errors in a 17-2 victory.
