St. Rose starts season with 30-point win

The St. Rose football team opened its season at home last week with a convincing 36-6 victory over the St. Philip Pioneers. With a deep kickoff to start the game, the Cardinals pinned the Pioneers at the 10-yard line. St.

Defense, special teams step up in 28-7 win over Burton

A week after racking up over 500 yards, the Shorthorns’ offense had a sluggish night last Friday but, bolstered by the other two phases, they notched a comfortable 28-7 win over Burton at David Husmann Memorial Stadium.

Lady Horns split five-set matches against 3A Columbus, 4A La Grange

After two marathon matches last week, the Lady Horns’ season record stood at 19-9.Schulenburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead at home on Class 3A Columbus on Tuesday, Sept. 10 only to have the Lady Cardinals win the next two sets. The Lady Horns closed out the match with a 15-8 victory in game five.

Girls’ XC team places in top spots at two meets

The Schulenburg High School cross country teams competed in two meets last week with the Lady Horns finishing high in the standings.The Navasota Rattler event on Wednesday, Sept. 11 featured a tough field of 21 teams ranging from Class 2A to Class 5A.
