Literary Club collects 103 pounds of food for Schulenburg Area Food Pantry

The Schulenburg Literary Club collected 103 pounds of nonperishable food for the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry at the club’s meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Seven of the club members are also pantry volunteers.

Senior Connections hosts Thanksgiving gathering

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the KC Hall in Schulenburg buzzed with excitement as 170 members and guests gathered for a fabulous Thanksgiving celebration hosted by Senior Connections.The day kicked off with dominos and coffee, setting the tone for a fun-filled event.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. On Monday, the shelter is closed to the public but staff is on-site for animal care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Rev. Susan J. Briner, bishop of the ELCA Southwestern Texas Synod, will be guest preacher at Communion services on Sunday, Nov. 23 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sublime starting at 8 a.m. and Faith Lutheran Church in Weimar beginning at 10 a.m.
