FUNERAL NOTICE - Julia Staha Dach

Funeral services for Julia Staha Dach, age 96, of Schulenburg will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in High Hill.The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Parish Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. from the church.Interment will be in High Hill Catholic Cemetery.

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

The Gardenia E. JanssenAnimal Shelter hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. On Monday, the shelter is closed to the public but staff is on-site for animal care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Holman Catholic Church PicnicThe annual picnic of St. Wenceslaus Church will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21 at the parish grounds in Holman on FM 155 between La Grange & Weimar. A drive-thru-only meal will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. for $14 per plate.

Local Food Panty serves 144 families in August

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 144 families in August with a total of 458 individuals. The Pantry had one new client with six individuals in that family. The amount of food given out was 8,858 pounds. Food donated was 1,898 pounds. Volunteer hours were 278.

If you love a hound dog but needed a mini version, you’re in luck! Rosa (left) and Knox (right) are both hound mixes looking for a forever home. At about 40 pounds, they are the perfect “fun size.” They are spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated.
