As part of the new steeple roof installation at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in High Hill, a new 7-foot cross will be installed atop the steeple. The existing cross was not reparable so a new stainless steel cross clad in copper was manufactured and donated by Dennis Venghaus-Schulenburg Sheet Metal. As of May 30, total intake for 2025 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 735 – 337 dogs and 398 cats in need.As of May 30, the shelter had 169 animals in its care – 74 dogs and 95 cats.

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter’s annual Homeward Bound fundraiser was a hit as “Vanity Fur” was held at Carmine Hall on Saturday, May 17. The community came together in support of the nonprofit and succeeded in raising much-needed funds for the community animal shelter.
