As part of the new steeple roof installation at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in High Hill, a new 7-foot cross will be installed atop the steeple. The existing cross was not reparable so a new stainless steel cross clad in copper was manufactured and donated by Dennis Venghaus-Schulenburg Sheet Metal. In the Thursday, May 29 issue, the scholarship amount given by the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Rose No. 1597, was incorrect.It should have stated that the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Rose No. 1597, awarded eight high school seniors scholarships of $200 each at the monthly CDA meeting.

As of May 30, total intake for 2025 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 735 – 337 dogs and 398 cats in need.As of May 30, the shelter had 169 animals in its care – 74 dogs and 95 cats.

Toulo use was the big winner with “Overall Best in Show” and “Most Fashionable.”

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter’s annual Homeward Bound fundraiser was a hit as “Vanity Fur” was held at Carmine Hall on Saturday, May 17. The community came together in support of the nonprofit and succeeded in raising much-needed funds for the community animal shelter.
