Local Food Pantry serves 169 families during Nov.

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 169 families in November with a total of 504 individuals. The Pantry had eight new clients with a total of 29 individuals. The amount of food given out was 9,064 pounds. Food donated was 7,219 pounds. The volunteer hours were 343.

FUNERAL NOTICE - Bernard Ripper

Funeral services for Mr. Bernard Frank Ripper, age 92, of Schulenburg will be held Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg, Texas. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 4 p.m. with the Parish Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m.

Christmas give-aways on Dec. 16 announced

St. James Missionary Baptist Church and its pastor, Rev. Andrew E. Stafford, are presenting a Christmas season give-away consisting of 50 turkey dinners/ gift cards. This will take place on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Animal Shelter statistics

As of Dec. 1, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,508 for the year– 696 dogs and 812 cats in need. As of Dec. 1, the shelter had 82 animals in its care – 37 dogs and 45 cats.
