County’s burn ban lifted by 3-2 vote

By a 3-2 vote, the Fayette County Commissioners Court lifted the burn ban at its meeting on Thursday, Sept. 8. County Judge Joe Weber made the motion to approve an order allowing outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the county.

A grant through the state’s Motor Vehicle Crime PreventionAuthority for an automatic license plate reader system was awarded to the Schulenburg Police Department. SPD Chief Troy Brenek reported on the funding at the City Council meeting on Sept. 6.

Increases to City utility rates approved

Ordinance amendments with increases to rates were unanimously approved by the Schulenburg City Council at its meeting last week. They will apply to fiscal year 202223 and become effective on Oct. 1.
