‘Parents As Teachers’ holds first art contest

The Schulenburg/Weimar area Parents As Teachers (PAT) program recently held its first art contest to recognize parents as their child’s first and most important teacher. Children were asked to create a picture of themselves and the grown-up(s) in their life that they feel fills this role.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court gave approval at its meeting last week for County Judge Weber to sign a lease agreement with First Baptist Church of La Grange regarding its old facility. District Judge Jeff Steinhauser must also give his blessing.

Deputy Santa Program gets under way

The “Deputy Santa” program initiated by Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek and the deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office started this past Monday, Nov. 30 and continues through Wednesday, Dec. 16. Toys will be handed out to participants at three different locations on Dec. 17.
