Clarence Ahlschlager Jr. was elected as Place 4 alderman on the Schulenburg City Council, defeating incumbent Geoffrey Schiffli by 191 votes. The election was held on Nov. 3, postponed from the normal May date due to the pandemic.

The Fayette County Narcotics K-9 Unit seized 18.5 pounds of raw Fentanyl during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 about three miles west of Flatonia on Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Local weather observer Elroy Dieringer reported only two days of rainfall during October totaling .42 of an inch. His measurements last month were as follows: • Oct. 16 .....................0.21”; • Oct. 28 .....................0.21”. Since 1926, Schulenburg has averaged 3.70 inches in October.

In an effort to secure funds for fixing up historical structures in town, the Schulenburg City Council gave the go-ahead at its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 2 for City staff to pursue a certification with the Texas Historical Commission.

Fayette County is making a change to the way active cases are reported due to a new and more accurate data point that is now provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Previously a case was active, with a few exceptions, for 14 days from the report date.

The Schulenburg High School Student Council sold “Pink Out” T-shirts to raise money to be donated to the Relay for Life of Southern Fayette County in honor of Chris Hooper. In all, $1096.40 was raised.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek and the deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have announced the dates for this year’s Deputy Santa Program: Nov. 30-Dec. 16. Toys will be handed out to participants at three different locations on Dec. 17.
