Garden Club has horticulture program at meeting to prepare for flower show

The Schulenburg Garden Club meeting on Tuesday, April 1 featured an Easter. theme.Menu items were displayed with Easter decorations, including a peace lily and a bunny on a lace tablecloth. Tortilla wraps offered options of chicken, ham, cheese and green salad.

Local Food Pantry serves 129 families in March

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 129 families in March with a total of 395 individuals. The Pantry had one new client (one individual). The Pantry also had one emergency client. The amount of food given out was 7,112 pounds. Food donated was 2,515 pounds. The volunteer hours were 323.

In anticipation of the Schulenburg Garden Club’s annual flower show on April 23, a history of the club is being presented along with a summary of its activities.The Schulenburg Garden Club was organized on Feb. 17, 1938.

The Schulenburg Garden Club has chosen the home of Ivan and Brenda Runnels, at 803 North St., for April yard of the month. Both owners enjoy working in the yard, as can be plainly seen. Even in drought, the yard looks cool and inviting.
