CARTS offering free rides for senior citizens

CARTS, in partnership with the Capital Area Council of Governments, Area Agency on Aging and ADRC of the Capital Area, offers free rides for senior citizens.

Legion and Auxiliary had monthly meetings Aug. 6

American Legion McBride Post 143 and Auxiliary held their monthly meetings on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Commander Bob Heinrich called the meeting to order with 32 Legion and 10 Auxiliary members in attendance. Auxiliary chaplain Linda Dieringer read the prayer.
A donation to Colorado County Senior Connections was made by Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 at the meeting on Aug. 14. Colorado County Senior Connections is a new group for anyone age 55 and up that meets on the first and third Wednesday in Columbus.

Thirty-five attend Hermann Sons Life meeting

Thirty-five members and guests attended the Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Oakridge Restaurant in Schulenburg.New members are Jacob Eurae Tanzsy Porter, Ellie Ann Janecka, Triton Mark Janecka, Kelbie Lynn Krupala and Amelie Lynn Anglin.

The St. Michael’s Assembly No. 1527, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, recently held its installation of officers. Assembly No. 1527 of Our Lady of Guadalupe Province is comprised of Sir Knights from the Weimar, Schulenburg and Flatonia Knights of Columbus councils.

Pond stocked for PVA fishing event

Veterans, friends and family did summer stocking of fish for the Paralyzed Veterans of Texas (PVA) fall trip to Bob’s Magic Pond near Moravia. Humpback blues, catfish, black bass, largemouth bass, blue gills and talapia were stocked.

ARTS Emerging Artists winners on display thru Aug. 31

Arts for Rural Texas announced the winners in its annual Emerging Artists Competition and Exhibition on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the ARTS Ross Gallery in Fayetteville.This year, the competition received a record-breaking number of submissions, with a grand total of 99 entries from 58 students.
