Lady Horn Ruby Rodriguez received second-team honors on the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team in girls’ track. Recipients were announced last week.

The Shorthorns will take a 12-11 record into the post-season after two wins on the road last week.In the first playoff warmup game on Friday, Schulenburg defeated Randolph 5-2.

Closed-Open golf tourney scheduled for Sat., June 14

The Schulenburg “Closed-Open” Golf Tournament, benefitting the Schulenburg ISD Athletic Department, has been scheduled for Saturday, June 14.The four-person scramble will be held at Flatonia Golf Course with a shotgun start of 9 a.m. Cost is $50 per person.

One Shorthorn and four Lady Horns competed in the Class 2A Region IV Track & Field Meet, held on Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19 at Texas A&MKingsville.Nick Goode had the top finish for Schulenburg High, placing sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. He ran the event in 44.

Shorthorns secure playoff berth

Playing only eight innings over two run-rule wins last week, the Shorthorns finished their District 29-2A schedule with a 7-5 record while improving to 10-11 on the season.With Weimar’s loss to Flatonia last Tuesday, Schulenburg clinched fourth place in district behind Ganado, Shiner, and Flatonia.

Lady Horns rout Bloomington, Louise to close out their season

With run-rule wins over Bloomington and Louise last week, the Lady Horns finished the season 3-9 in District 29-2A and 4-19-1 overall.On the road last Tuesday, Schulenburg scored 14 runs in the top of the first inning on its way to a 24-0 rout over the Lady Bobcats.
