In a career that spanned over 40 years, coach David Husmann touched the lives of countless young people and orchestrated team championships.
A Schulenburg resident, he passed away on Friday, Dec. 18 in Austin at the age of 67.

With Tom Muras’ resignation as Fayette County Precinct 4 commissioner, County Judge Joe Weber appointed Drew Brossmann to the position.
Muras, in the middle of a fouryear term, announced his intention to step down earlier this month effective Dec. 31.

“It didn’t hurt at all” was the reaction of Laurie Quitta, nurse director of the Medical Surgical Unit of St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.
Quitta has served as a nurse in Fayette County for four decades and was chosen to receive the very first COVID-19 vaccine administered in Fayette County.

In the absence of Fayette County Judge Joe Weber, Precinct 4 Commissioner Tom Muras led the Commissioners Court meeting on Dec. 23 as County judge pro-tem.
With Muras’ retirement effective Dec. 31, appointing a new judge pro-tem was in order.
