Margaret Havrda was born Jan. 8, 1931, to Charles and Ida Hartensteiner at home, in Weimar. She was the ninth of 10 siblings.

Lazaro Cardenas, 82, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Josephine Cardenas and brother David Cardenas.

Raymond Charles Miller

Raymond Charles Miller passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Feb. 13,2023 at 1:30 p.m. with family at his side. He was 84 years old and battled the terrible disease of dementia for a long time. Ray was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Aug. 11, 1938 to Frank and Lula Shipman Miller.

Arnold August Janda

Arnold August Janda, 86, of La Grange, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023. Arnold was born in La Grange on Sept. 17, 1936, the son of Frances (Rainosek) and Joseph M. Janda. He attended school at the Czech Catholic School in Hostyn and went to High School in La Grange, graduating in 1955.

Erwin James Kobza

Erwin James Kobza, 84, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12 at Hallettsville Nursing & Rehab Center. Erwin was born in Schulenburg on March 30, 1938, to Joe and Ida Kahanek Kobza. He attended St. John School and in September 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Timothy ‘Tim’ Shimek

Timothy (Tim) Shimek of Moravia passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023 at this home with his family at his side at the age of 63. Tim was preceded in death by his father, George Shimek.

Roger Allen Holub

Roger Allen Holub, 54, of Houston, died at Park Plaza Hospital due to heart surgery complications on Thursday, Feb. 2. A Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Road in Houston, on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Heaven gained one of the kindest, sweetest, funniest women on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, as Evelyn Besetzny Kusy went to claim her heavenly reward. Evelyn graduated as valedictorian of her class at St. John’s School, where she also excelled in sports.
