Alton Emil Demel, 94, of Schulenburg, passed away on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. He was born on Nov. 18, 1926 in High Hill to Emil and Emilie Blaschke Demel and was married to Hilda Belcik Demel, his loving wife for over 70 years.

Annie Carolyn (Kainer) FIetsam died on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, following a short illness. She was 84 years old. Annie was born at home near High Hill on Jan. 12, 1936. Her parents were Joseph and Anna (Klesel) Kainer. She was the youngest of seven siblings. The family spoke German at home.

David Husmann Celebration of Life

The David Husmann family invites everyone to a celebration of Coach Husmann’s life on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. at Shorthorn Stadium in Schulenburg. There will be special seating for his former players. Coach Husmann passed away on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at the age of 67.

Dorothy Mae Vornsand Goedrich, 91, of Schulenburg died Friday, December 18. Private funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 22 at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Kosler officiating. Interment followed at St. Rose Cemetery.

Ruth Carolyn (Buxkemper) Kunz, 78, of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 in Houston. She was born on May 12, 1942 to Felix Buxkemper Sr. and Loreda (Peters) Buxkemper in La Grange. Ruth worked as a paralegal secretary for 57 years for Gates, Stein, Prause & Gillespie Law Firm.

Timothy E. Benton

Timothy E. Benton was called home on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, after a long, courageous battle. He was born Aug. 27, 1952, in Richmond, Texas. He graduated from Needville High School in 1970 and attended Wharton County Junior College.

Paul Eugene Veselka, 69, passed away at his home in Schulenburg on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 after battling cancer for six months. Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg, with Fr. Felix Twumasi officiating. A rosary at 9:30 a.m.

Alejandro “Henry” Garcia, 80, of Schulenburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Janice Garcia. Henry was born in Shiner on Nov. 29, 1940 to Joe T. and Maria Garcia of Midway.
