Ernest Edwin Davis

Ernest Edwin Davis, 81, of College Station, died Nov. 4, 2021. A longtime economist and educator, Davis is well known for his contributions to cattle raisers and the beef industry. He was also an Eagle Scout, U.S. Army Captain and served as a county Extension agent for many years.

Neal Heinrich passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021. Neal was born in Port Lavaca on Dec. 25, 1959, to Gus and Pearl Heinrich. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Troy Heinrich and Harvey Heinrich, and infant son Nicholas Neal Heinrich.

Anita (Kalisek) Shimek

Anita Pauline (Kalisek) Shimek, 88, of Pasadena, died there on Friday, Feb. 4 at 1:10 p.m. after having Alzheimer’s Disease for four years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with visitation at 9 a.m., rosary at 10:30 a.m.

Carol Ann Hartensteiner

Carol Ann Hartensteiner passed away in Schulenburg on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at age 63. Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Fr. Scott Hill officiated.

James George “Jimmy” Zabransky of Weimar passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 in Houston. He was born Nov. 8, 1937 to Adolph Zabransky and Louise (Ermis) Zabransky in Schulenburg. On Jan. 12, 1958 he married Marcia Joan Hartensteiner. Jimmy graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1956.

Edith Marie Kocurek passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022 at the age of 97. Edith was born Aug. 11, 1924 in Schulenburg to Eddie Watzlavick and Edna (Vacek) Watzlavick. She married Frank Emil Kocurek on May 27, 1943 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg.

Henry Joseph Zapalac Sr.

Henry Joseph Zapalac Sr. passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at 12:10 a.m. at his home near Schulenburg after a battle with cancer. Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
